Mooloolaba had a fabulous summer with plenty of sunshine and loads of happy holiday makers laying on our magnificant beaches.

During 2011, Whale One went whale watching, sunset cruising, lunch cruising and hosted many a great party – a great year for Whale One.

2012 sees Whale One away in Darwin and will not be back here in Mooloolaba until the end of May 2012.

Whale One is currently not running any cruises, so if you have one of the shoppa dockets that is currently running with Coles and Woolworths, hang onto those dockets as Whale One will honour those heavily discounted prices for 2012.

Sunset Cruises will commence on the 1st July 2012 each Friday evening – you can use that shoppa docket and bring all your friends (only need one docket) at the discounted rate – ring up now and book for later this year and save $$$

Lunch Cruises will commence on the 1st December 2012 – Wednesday, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays – you can once again use that shoppa docket and bring all your friends (only need one docket) at the discounted rate – ring up now and book for later this year and save $$$

Whale Watching cruises commence on the 16th June 2012 – daily trips – if you have one of those shoppa dockets hang onto it and we will take $25 off the normal rate for each and every one you bring with you – you can make huge savings – just hang onto the docket and book in for the show of the year !!

Whale One will be back in June 2012.

New Whale One Boat for the Summer

The luxury vessel ‘Whale One’ is termporarily away from Mooloolaba and to replace her the equally beautiful vessel “Quick Cat II” from Hervey Bay has moved in to take over the cruises for the next few weeks. “Quick Cat II” has the capacity to carry 100 passengers, full walk around decks, lower deck has seating and cover, the front of the vessel has seating and so much space to view our beautiful Mooloola River and Canal system. The upper deck has seating and cover with an even higher deck to view as far as the eye can see – an awesome boat that will please everyone.

We are taking bookings now for the scenic lunch cruises and sunset cruises. See you onboar “Quick Cat II” for a wonderful time with friendly crew and great service.

New Year’s Eve Parties – Mooloolaba
It’s here – 2012 is knocking on the door and have we got a party for you. This New Year don’t spend time in the pub with everyone else – join Whale One for a magical cruise with only 80 passengers – awesome live entertainment on both cruises and some fabulous food that will keep any tummy happy!

This New Year we have two cruises to choose from – one for the early birds – a short 2 hour Sunset Cruise – great for the family, don’t want to be out late but still enjoy the atmosphere of New Year

Cruise One
The New Year’s Eve Sunset Cruise – 5.30 – 7.30pm
Enjoy our awesome musicians who will have you tapping your feet to some boppy tunes, might even get you dancing in the isle!!
Lap up the luxury of the boat whilst cruising the beautiful Mooloolaba Canals as the sun sets on our beautiful city – enjoy a selection of beers, wines, mixed drinks, cocktails from our onboard bar and some of the best pre dinner nibblies on the coast – everyone is loving the food – it’s fresh – tasty – yummy and plenty of it! This is an affordable cruise at only $40 a head – great value – cruise – music – food – sunset !!

Cruise Two
The New Year’s Eve Party Cruise – 8.30 – 12.30am
What a night this is going to be – live music to dance the night away, beautiful food prepared by our chef, Staci who will delight all your taste buds with a smorgasbord of fresh local prawns, beef, lamb, chickens, salads and bread rolls and whatever else she comes up with – it’s going to be awesome!!

After you have eaten your beautiful meal, enjoy the atmosphere of the many decks to take in the beautiful lights on offer as we cruise around the canals – smooth sailing !! If weather allows we’re heading out the seaway to the bay where all the action presents itself – there will be many boats and oodles of atmosphere – and of course FIRE WORKS over Mooloolaba.

Onboard you will be greeted by super friendly staff who wish to make your night a memorable one – enjoy our on board licensed bar and a cocktail or two ! Photo’s will be taken throughout the evening which are available for purchase onboard

Whale watching has turned into whale searching over the last couple of days so the 2011 season has now ended for us on the Sunshine Coast.

It has been a fantastic first season for the new operators of Whale One with the weather having been the kindest remembered for quite a while and the whales more plentiful and friendly. It seems that great acrobatics were experienced on most trips and muggings were common occurrences!!

We look forward to their return next year and now gear up for our new summer cruises.

………….who said the whales were over for 2011????!!!
Another beautiful day cruising off the Sunshine Coast in very calm and clear conditions was enjoyed by the small group of passengers today. The whales have certainly slowed right down with most of our winter visitors now having headed down south for a much deserved feed.
We found a mother / calf / escort about five miles off Point Cartwright and enjoyed their company for most of the morning. Had a couple of close encounters as the calf tried to come over and say g’day but mum kept him on track and ushered him underway again. We reckon she’d decided it was time to get back down with the rest of the group and didn’t want to stop and play.

Wow an amazing day today at sea today the weather was magnificent- warm breeze, calm seas and stunning customers!A Relaxed day with the whales today, the mother and calf we came across outside the four mile mark were participating in feeding rituals. The whales were calm and relaxed, just milling around the area slowly but surely making it south in there own sweet time- and it was evident today!

A stunning day at sea today- beautiful weather and sea conditions. The first two whales we came across were very friendly indeed, we had a few close encounters much to the delight of our guests! The two large, adult whales swam gracefully south. A close encounter showed some interesting battle scars (perhaps caused by an outboard motor). One of the whales had lost it’s whole Dorsal fin. Nearby we came across a mother and calf swimming amongst some other boats and ventured over for a look. With a reasonably young mother and small the mother was quite protective of her young.

An absolutely beautiful day on the water today had us doing two trips and enjoying great friendly whales. There is still good numbers of whales on our stretch of coast – mainly mothers and calves with the occasional pods of sub-adults making their way south.
They were a little bit quiet early in the day but passengers loved the good breaches as mother and calf both showed off their acrobatic talents.
The afternoon saw the sea breeze kick up a bit of swell and the whales seemed to enjoy the change of conditions. Fantastic displays by different pods during the trip had even the slowest of our photographers thinking they were David Attenborough!

Yet another exotic adventure aboard Whale One! A great start to the the day with some fantastic breaching by mother and calf on the morning trip. This mother and calf gave as u good show until the end of the trip when we had to drag ourselves away from the playful pod. Wind dropped off for a warm afternoon trip where we found a three whale pod nice and early. They were quite placid in the beginning but changed behavior quick enough and gave us an exciting afternoon with some breaching, peduncle throws and frolicking in the beautiful ocean conditions.

What a wonderful day at sea, the rain did not deter us at all! Just past the three mile mark we passed a mother and calf participating in feeding rituals, peduncle throws, tail slapping and finally our patience payed off when mum and calf breached within close proximity to the boat-stunning and impressing our guests to no end. We traveled between four pods and our most exciting whale was a beautiful young calf coming in for a close encounter with the boat and then engaging in playful activity for our enjoyment!
