Whale Report Saturday 14th October

Again our day started with beautiful flat conditions on the ocean and whales everywhere we looked, with 5 mins of leaving the river mouth we spotted our first pod for the day, a mum and calf just cruising along with not a worry at all. In the distance we saw lots of blows which led us to a large pod of 8 whales all in competition mode which means we got to see lots of whales on the surface most of the morning. We also found a mum and calf and escort and the calf breached and breached showing everyone how he does it. The afternoon cruise was something very different as we watched a thick bank of dark clouds roll in and covered the sunshine coast, our whales loved it with 4 pods found and we watched one mum and calf slowly swimming back to the Antarctic. Out of no where a new pod started breaching doing full corkscrew breaches. This mum held her tail up beside the boat and fed her little calf only metres from the boat. This is only done by 10% of mums and very unusual to watch.
