What an awesome day for whale watching. We came across a competition pod just 2 miles off the coast. There were six or seven males jostling for the attention of a mother who was travelling with her week old calf. The males were very excited and we saw a spectacular peduncle throw.
We spotted another 4 pods happily cruising north until we came across a pod with a very active female. She put on a great display, laying on her back and tail lobbing. She swam alongside our boat and then showed some pec slaps, tail slaps and a peduncle throw. She was travelling with a male and, to our surprise, there was also a Minke Whale with them.
