We had an amazing morning whale watching. The whales were playing in the shallow waters near shore and giving us some spectacular close encounters. We saw three pods of mother and calf playing off Mooloolaba beach. An active pod of competition males put on a display with fluke ups, spy hops and tail slaps. The clear skies and good sea conditions made for a perfect morning on the water.
This afternoon we encountered the completion pod of males again who were super excited and putting on a high energy show for the nearby females. The whales were again close to shore and having fun in the warm water. A mother and calf put on a great show of pec slapping and breaching. Before we headed back our boat was surrounded by whales breaching all around us and we had amazing close encounters with these majestic giants.
