This morning travelling alongside a pod 12.5 nautical miles, East-North-East we had an active pod of 2 humpback whales- one adult breaching on an off for an hour or so. lots of close breeches to the boat and preformed all the usual surface behaviors – Tail slaps, head lunges, pec slaps and many peduncle throws and an amazing corkscrew breach.
This afternoon didn’t disappoint passengers either, travelling about the same distance 11.5 nautical miles. We pod hopped out to a competition pod (about 5 pods) who were swimming quickly in a northerly direction. Lots of close encounters as these whales swam around the boat.
