Wow, what a day of excitement at sea! The whales were breaching all directions around us, 3 pods at one time! The traditional mating behavior of the young males was on show also today with erratic and abrupt head lunging and head butting, tail slapping, bubble blasting and of course breaching, all to win the affections of the single female traveling along side. We did not see the male she chose, but it will most certainly be the alpha of the pod- good luck to them and we will leave it at that!
