A pre-dawn band of thunder storms hit the coast but cleared quickly to enable the morning trip to head offshore in reasonable conditions. The whales more than compensated for any shortfalls in sea conditions – they were on full show today with full acrobatics by nearly every pod we saw.
Spent a long time with a mother and calf as they joined another mum with her one year old youngster. They played happily together for an hour or so seeming to show off their array of acrobatics to each other (and our appreciative passengers). We saw eight pods during the morning in fairly poor visibility which highlighted how many whales are around this month.
