Two humpbacks were sighted 14 miles East of Point Cartwright today. They were allusive at first but once they became familiar with the vessel the passengers were witness to great interaction between the whales. Both whales were beside the vessel for long periods, the engines were out of gear as these majestic mammals preformed their playful fluke up and fluke down dives, giving the passengers some fantastic photo moments. The Captain reported good cruising conditions, with seas half to one meter, SW chop and a wind of 15 knots WSW. With excellent sea conditions and exciting whale sighting, it was an all round great day for passengers aboard.
Good numbers of humpbacks have been reported coming north along the coast line and sea conditions for the next few days are predicted to be perfect for whale watching.
