What a wonderful day. We saw a pod of 2 whales 6 miles east of Point Cartwright. They were breaching, tail slapping and peduncle throwing just by the boat and we were able to enjoy a close encounter with them. Then they continued to swim on their migratory path. The skipper sighted another pod of 4 whales breaching further south. We were lucky enough to witness them performing quite a show as part of their mating ritual. After a while of great entertainment for everyone on board they settled down and headed north. The sea conditions were good with a small southerly chop on a low swell. A pleasant day out at sea and lots of whale action around.
