A total of 19 humpback whales.

Today was a magnificent day on the ocean with a total of 16 whales this morning and another 3 on the afternoon cruise.

Our first pod of 2 humpbacks were spotted just a few mile off Point Cartwright this morning with another pod following shortly behind. As the skipper scanned the seas he sighted another 2 competition pods further out. After a short but very close encounter with the first group the skipper cruised out toward the larger pods where they were performing their antics. Breaching, tail slapping, spy hopping and lots of friendly up close encounters around the vessel.

The afternoon saw similar conditions with a pod of 3 whales on a few mile off shore. 1 juvenile breached 3 times in front of the vessel thrilling all the passengers on board. This friendly whale would have weighted about 20 tonne.
