Total of 12 whales sighted today. 6 on the morning and 6 on the afternoon cruise.
Whale One skipper and crew sighted our first new born humpback of the season today. The mother and calf were swimming only 4.5 miles East of Port Cartwright, surfacing for quite a long time, the boat stayed with them for a while keeping the required distance of 300m away from the pod. The skipper spotted more whales in the distance and cruised out to 5 miles East of Port Cartwright. A pod of 3 humpbacks were happily diving, splashing and swimming around the boat. Peduncle throws (tail slapping) and fluke up dives being the order of the day. Another 2 whales joined in the action. The skipper reported calm seas and a slight breeze.
Tomorrows forecast is for excellent conditions for whale watching.
