This morning there was a swell of 1 meter and a little wind chill out at sea with a northeasterly wind blowing at about 5-10 knots. We found a pod of 2 whales about 8 miles North of Point Cartwright and were treated to 20 minutes of close encounters with the giants as they came right up to the boat, as they moved off slowly we had no trouble keeping up and stayed with the two for a while longer. After leaving that pod we found another couple and were treated to a large breach and tail slap, as well as fluke up dives as they powered along. We were also lucky this morning to see some inter species companionship with approximately 30 common dolphins swimming with the first pod of whales! A beautiful sight for a Saturday morning. Pictures coming soon.
