A total of 7 whales sighted today. Some playful and some just cruisin’ Seas were perfect for whale spotting and hardly a breeze at all.
The morning cruise started well with the first whale sighted just 5 mile off Mooloolaba Bay. This whale was entertaining the passengers with some graceful Fluke up dives and only 3 – 4 minute downtimes. The skipper then moved away from this whale as another pod of 2 were sighted further out. These whales gave us some really close encounters and a few action packed tail slaps.
The afternoon cruise boasted another baby whale who was out to play today. This 3 week old whale was spotted about 9 miles east of Point Cartwright cruising along with its mother. Some passengers were lucky enough to spot some breaches and calf tail slaps. After they were ready to move on we went another 3 miles out and found a competition pod. Two males fighting over one girl. Fluke up dives were seen and a lot of pushing and shoving was going on. The sunshine certainly put on a great day.
