Whale Report for 22 July
The waters today were fairly calm with a long lazy swell and no wind. The first whales spotted were 9 miles off Point Cartwright. They entertained us with big fluke up dives and logging. These wonderful whales were doing their synchronized swimming as they came to the surface and retreated below again. They were so majestic that we followed them for about 1 hour. We headed north seeing another 3 pods. 1 single whale did a half breach as we approached with several peduncles throws just metres away from the boat. Plumes from other whales nearby could be seen in the distance. On our return about 4 miles out another single whale was showing us his skills with tail slaps but decided to continue on with his journey.
