Total of a dozen whales today!
AM single logging whale then a mother and calf, the calf was very inquisitive then 2 adults performing a few tricks
Mid morning we had a total of four whales.
The crew and passengers on the afternoon cruise were treated to near perfect conditions again with only 1 metre seas and 7-8 knots of NE breeze. The crew sighted a Mother & Calf just 1.5 mile East of Point Cartwright. The pod of 3 were very friendly and Whale One were only 500 metres off when a huge humpback started breaching, they were also slapping their tails (called tail lunges) this whale was identified as an escort. They do just that escort the mother and her new calf back to the Antarctic. Watching for predators on their migration. They were all active for the first show of 30mins after this the mother seemed to be feeding the calf whilst the escort performing 3 chin slaps. The calf emerged with loads of energy & did an enormous breach. The passengers were also treated to Close Encounters by the little calf. Another mother and calf were sighted further out playing.
We’d love to see you out there so give us a call!
