7am trip saw the sea conditions improving, we spotted 2 pods both mothers and calves. The first pod performed some fluke updives and synchronised swimming, and the second pod also did synchronised swimming with some close encounters. We also saw a couple of coral sea snakes.
On the 10.30am trip, the seas were a bit choppy but we saw a mother and her calf performing some fluke updives, synchronised swimming and we had a few close encounters once again.
This afternoon saw the winds at about 12 knots NE, so quite choppy on the water. We followed a mother and her calf who did continuous breaches and pectoral slaps for the first hour, then went a bit quiet. Then they both swam over to the boat and the mother breached quite close to the boat. As we were about to leave, the calf did a full breach the closest we have seen a calf to the boat, only about 5 metres away, nearly wetting everyone who was standing close enough!
