The forecast for today’s weather looked pretty rough yesterday, but things have turned out better than predicted, with a little wind, 1m swells and a little bit of chop on the water. The winds are dying down for the afternoon, so last minute bookings for the 2pm are welcome!

2 whales at 7 am, 2 whales at 10.30 am and 2 more in the afternoon.

We saw a mother and calf this morning, with the calf acting very playful, displaying 4 breaches. The mother joined in with a couple of peduncle throws. Mother and Calf keeping their distance from Whale One as we moved along beside them only swimming to within 50 metres of us. You could see very clearly the massive bulk of these humpbacks as they kept surfacing much to the delight of our passengers. With only a slight 15 knot breeze and 1 metre seas the conditions were good for whale spotting. A pair of Common Dolphins were playing with the calf for a short time, the whale seemed to enjoy this as he rolled over as they bounced around him.
