What a wonderful surprise for our lucky passengers to find a mother with newborn calf and escort in calm waters, just 1 nautical mile off Point Cartwright this morning. The rest of our morning trip involved watching the newborn calf learning how to tail slap. We then had the pleasure of seeing a group of bottlenose and common dolphins playing together. After that we came across a juvenile heading south. He was playing around and swimming underneath the boat and even showed off a little turning over onto his back. This all happened within 3 miles of the shore which was great as it was a little choppy out there today.

On our afternoon trip it took us a little while to find the whales but we eventually came across 2 large humpbacks. At first they were a little elusive with long down times but warmed up to us after a while and came up nice and close to the boat. We saw some very nice fluke up dives and even witnessed a good 5 minutes of in sync tail slapping from the pair. We made the most of it out there in some less than favourable conditions but at least the whales still gave us a thrill.
