It was a clear and calm morning on the water. We were met by a mother whale at the entrance to the harbour who spent some time showing us her new calf. We were delighted by their acrobatic moves with the calf practicing his breaching skills and the mother showing us some peduncle throws. 4 nautical miles off shore we found a pod of three whales who gave us some close encounters with fluke up dives and half breaches. We also spotted another pod of two whales who swam over to check us out.
This afternoon, we saw a mother and calf just off Point Cartwright lolling about on the surface with a few breeches from the calf. The Skipper then headed out a little further and took his choice of a couple of pods to watch some more fluke up dives.
