Wow, what a way to kick off the school holidays! Our morning trip was off to a good start weather-wise, and we had even better luck with the whales we saw! It was truly an impressive day as far as whale watching goes. There was fun-filled splashing all around us from calves breaching and peduncle slapping from the mums. Overall, we had extremely active whales today on every trip we went out on – on Whale One and Wild One! This morning, one of the calves must have thought he was a dolphin, as he did a forward breach, which they don’t generally do. In the afternoon, we watched one (out of so many) mum and calf continuously breaching and playing about. Both our guests and crew were excited and amazed to watch this mum lay belly-up while the calf swam over – almost giving her a hug! We also had a pod of happy dolphins that came over to say hello – some almost white in colour!
