Today we found two pods near the HMAS Brisbane wreck. We stuck with the more active pod which was a competition pod of six adults! They were on the surface every other minute and gave us a great show with fluke up dives, pec slaps and a few close encounters. We spent over an hour with these whales as they made their way south.
Later we met with our other boat Wild one about 3 miles east. They had a mother calf and escort with them. These whales were all fairly quiet to start with but after about 15 minutes they became comfortable got very active! Showing off with multiple breaches, peck slaps, tail slaps, peduncle throws and head lunges. This was a great show for everyone! Spent about one hour with them.
