The whales were out today embracing the sunshine and calm swell conditions.
To start the day we came across a solo logging (sleeping) whale peacefully cruising along the surface 15 miles east of Point Cartwright then we came across a pod of four breaching whales which put on quite the show to our boat. There was breaching, double breaching, tail slapping, flukes up and down and this pod even gave us a warm welcome by peck slapping and wetting our guests.
So many magical close encounters, these whales weren’t shy and swam around us and underneath us before continuing their journey North. And just as we commenced back to shore we saw two double breaching whales and a pod of dolphins which rode the bow of the boat.
It’s safe to say that today was a whale of a day!
