Sea conditions were good today with low winds and a 1m swell. About 1.5 miles offshore from Point Cartwright we spotted a mother and calf. The calf looked to be about 1 week old. While following them for a couple of hours the baby treated us to some breaches and head lunging, with mum doing some breaches and head lunges as well. They were both quite playful, doing several breaches each. After a while the calf got away from mum and swam around the boat – only 4-5m away! Mum swam in close to the boat too.
