All was calm out at sea on Whale One today with minimal swell and no wind to speak of. About 3 miles off Point Cartwright we came upon a mother, calf and escort and stayed with them for a while. We were treated to tail slaps and some very close encounters (mum and baby even swam under the boat!) We then saw another pod of two, and later two more! We were spoiled with seven whales today, and close encounters with some big whales. On the way back in we also saw a gorgeous Leatherback turtle, Leatherbacks are the largest of all turtles (reaching 1.75m and 500kg) and are listed as critically endangered so it was a pleasant surprise to spot one this morning.
