Today 7 August whale report…
Wow, what a fantastic day whale watching today. Beautiful blue skies and plenty of whales to see. The skipper spotted the first single whale at 9am about 3.5 miles off Point Cartwright. We stayed with this whale for about 30 minutes while he was mugging the boat and spy hopping. Two more whales joined this single whale and then they were surrounded by about 20 common dolphins. These extra two whales were breaching and swimming around the boat. They left the single whale on its own again and shortly after one more large whale joined him. He showed off by spy hopping, pec slapping, tail slapping and some peduncle slaps. They came very close to the boat. These whales and dolphins gave the passengers 2.5 hours of entertainment.
