Morning Report!
Plenty of whales around the area today!
On our way out (appox. 2.5 miles offshore) we spotted a pod of 3 consisting of a mother, calf and escort.
We saw some whale activity further off so headed out to a pod of 2. Lots of pectoral slapping and they were hanging around at the surface quite a bit. Great close encounters with the pair before another single humpback joined them. A competition started up with lots of commotion.
At half time the whales came over to swim around the boat for a while before getting back into the fight.
After they dispersed we also spotted another mother, calf, escort group and on our way back in we had a pod of common dolphins come and play with us.
Arvo Report!
Some viewing from a mother and calf pair this afternoon. The calf was rolling all about and even gave pec slapping a try.
A large container ship in the area blew it’s loud horn and after that the whales were a little less playful and more cautious of the boat so we decided to leave them be and move on.
We came across another whale who was busy spending most of his time underwater so only a few glimpses of him.
Moving on to a pod of 2 who gave us some peduncle throws and fluke up dives.
Such variety this afternoon you just never know what you’re in for!
