Saturday 2nd July total of 6 whales
A pod of 2 humpbacks were spotted 12 mile off Mooloolaba this morning. Our skipper said they were rather shy whales. however a breaching whale was spotted shortly after this. They had 5 minute down-times. The seas were very calm with only 1/2 metre of swell (this is the flatest seas and the best cruising conditions)
The 1pm cruise set out in perfectly calm conditions with only a 7 knot breeze. The first pod of 2 were sighted 12 mile out with curious whales having some Close Encounters and fluke up dives these guys performed for a short while before heading north. Giving everyone a wave with its mighty Pectoral Fin goodbye.
