Today’s morning trip saw a lot of whale activity! The first single whale was spotted just 3 miles off Point Cartwright. Another half a mile out we saw another whale who was cruising past. Then we came across a mother and calf who gave us a show and some close encounters. The calf was extremely playful, chin slapping, rolling and breaching for our guests!
On our way back we saw a mini competition pod of 3 whales who were breaching and pec slapping as we approached them. They displayed some fluke up dives and gave us some really close encounters. There were several other whales about this morning that we saw from a distance.
Sea conditions today were lovely with small swell and the sun was shining.
What a great afternoon on the water. We found our first couple of whales 4 nautical miles off Point Cartwright. The two single whales lead us to two more pods of two and a pod of three. We watched the pod of three for some time until they met up with a larger group of whales. We had some spectacular close encounters with fluke up dives, spy hops, swan ups and fin slaps. We put the hydrophone in the water and listened to the whales singing around the boat.
