Saturday 3 September – Total 15 whales
This morning saw sunny skies, lovely sea conditions and whales galore. The first pod of whales the skipper found were 3 nautical miles offshore, heading south and consisted of a mother, her calf and two other adult whales who were escorting them. The mother treated us to a show of pec slaps, peduncle throws and tail slaps and her calf joined in with some pec slaps and a small breach. A few hundred meters away, we found another pod of two friendly adult whales playing around with pec slaps and breaches. Before heading home we came across our third pod of 2 adult whales and experienced some spectacular up close encounters and fluke up-dives!
Saturday afternoon
The skipper on WILD ONE came across a single whale just 3 miles East of Point Cartwright this afternoon. Another two pods of 2 further out were playing so we headed off to catch a closer glimpse of these. Whale One was further out with another pod having a play. They were a little shy but gave the passengers a few Fluke Up Dives. Then the breaching started just before heading in followed by Head Lunges. A fantastic day out with the whales. Great conditions with a light breeze & gentle swell.
