We had an exciting morning on the water spotting our first mother and calf heading south just off Point Cartwright. They gave us a beautiful close encounter with fluke up dives. We met a second mother and calf off Warana who were relaxing in the calm waters before spotting a third mother and calf heading north. We decided to follow the third pod and were rewarded with both mother and calf breaching and coming up to the boat for a close encounter. The calf continued to delight us with chin slaps, breaches, half breaches and fluke up dives. We saw three pods on our return trip with more whales in the distance.
